Philosophy: Stewards of the Assets of Society
To give value to our work, we'd like to "Make the World a Better
Place."
The great Peter Drucker, in his treatise, "Management" defined
how we could do just that. He described that the men and women of business are the "Stewards of the Assets of
Society." If we do a good job applying capital, labor and assets in an effective and efficient way, society
will grow and flourish. If we squander those assets, our economy and life will
flounder.
In seeking the best application for the assets under our control
we have become focused on leading-edge cancer immunotherapy efforts.
Because of prior medical and technical work, we immediately
identified the great good that will flow from the perfection and qualification of a handful of promising
immunotherapy treatments through expensive FDA trials. When the opportunity is known, it is not time to
dither. We immediately committed the company to support this effort.
Most, would have waited to ask the scientists what will most
likely happen. Our science team and CEO are one and the same so we recognized the medical multiple was
very large, and that any multiple in this range is a great financial win.
The financial win follows because if you bring great, great good
to society, the number of people that wish to receive the benefit will be extraordinary. Large demand
translates to a disproportionate profit. We will continue to move swiftly, and recognize that by doing
good we cannot help but do well.
We cannot think of any way to make the world a better place than
efficiently financing the leaders in society's upcoming success against cancer.
