Mentor Capital's Cancer Fighting Investment Shows Great Range of
Application in University Agreement
(For
Immediate Release December 2, 2009)
SAN DIEGO,
Mentor Capital, Inc. (Pink Sheets: MNTR) from the onset selected to invest in
one cancer company, Quantum Immunologics, whose immunotherapy, in Mentor's independent medical analysis, may
well be expected to apply to many cancer lines. This was financially preferable to investing separately in
many cancer companies whose products each attack one cancer type. By investing early, before
the multiple product lines were developed by Quantum, Mentor was able to invest at the price for one line,
but now may look forward to receiving the value from the development of many. All, of course, only after
treatments are vetted through FDA-authorized testing.
In 2009, Quantum received FDA authorization to apply its exclusively licensed, patented
immunotherapy in a Phase I/II human clinical study which involves 27 patients with advanced-stage metastatic
breast cancer and is designed around the company's proprietary dendritic cell therapy. Other, already noticed
but not definitively announced joint actions, will involve the FDA-authorized testing, and if that's successful,
the commercial development of immunotherapy treatments for other cancer types in men and
women. However, the surprising breadth of potential application of the financed cancer fighting
immunotherapy is best illustrated by the current press release by Mentor's major
investee.
Quantum Immunologics, announced it will extend its novel cancer immunotherapy to the
veterinary market through the formation, with Auburn University, of a new, jointly-owned and
independently-funded company. The partnership is targeted
to begin operation in mid-2010 and will draw both on the University's renowned College of Veterinary Medicine
animal oncology expertise and will license Quantum's proprietary oncofetal antigen-based therapy as its
underlying technology.
Mentor Capital's public market value should closely track the major investment it holds in
this rapidly growing biotech investee, an otherwise private company. At today's $1.50 per Mentor share the
implied valuation of 100% of Quantum is $7 Million. To continue to add value for existing and new shareholders,
Mentor is working to significantly increase its investment in Quantum.
